Christmas Picnic 2019
After Club on Saturday 21-12-2019 we held our annual Christmas Picnic which was attended by 70 people. A great roll up to celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of Christmas festivities.
The evening started with the swimming of the family freestyle relays.
We had 5 full family teams, Fing, Portois, Seymour/Roberts, Gillan and Hull.
The Fing family were in the water first off “Go”, followed by the Portois family on “18”, the Seymour/Roberts on 27 along with the Gillan family also on ‘27” with the Hulls on “34”.
What an exciting race with the winners changing at every turn. When the last swimmers hit the water on the last lap it was anyone’s race. A very exciting last lap and the winners were the Portois family, followed by The Gillans, Hulls, Seymour/Roberts and Fings.
We then had 2 further heats of mixed realays, these were also exciting events.
Heat 1 had 3 teams made up of Mak/Liaw, Moroney/Grounds and O’Gorman/Gianetto families.
Winners in this heat were the Mak/Liaw families.
Heat 2 had 4 teams made up of Kwok/Truong, Murphy/Townsend, Ede/Smith and Lee/Henry.
Another exciting event which was won by the Kwok/Truong families.
Congratulations to all our winners and well done to everyone that participated.
All winning teams received a lolly bag.
With the relays out of the way out was time for pool games.
We started with the swimmers in teams that were split on either side of the pool and each team was given a ping pong ball which they had to blow from one side to the other in a relay race.
This was fun and saw different winners each time.
Then it was time for the favourite game diving for sinkers. With 100 to search for the hunt was on. So much fun and various winners.
All the swimmers shared prizes of lollies, chocolates and chips.
A special visitor then arrived to the excitement of all the kids both young and old. Santa arrived and handed out lolly bags to everyone. Photos were taken as he talked to all the children and parents.
A picnic dinner was enjoyed by all the families before adjourning to the hall to watch the movie “The Grinch”. A very colourful and fun movie. Ice creams and drinks were served to everyone at intermission.
Everyone went home happy after an enjoyable night.
2018 Christmas Picnic
Due to the construction in the school grounds of Peakhurst West School our Christmas Picnic this year took on a slightly different format.
It was held after club on Saturday 22 December 2018, and even with the change in format many swimmers and their families stayed to enjoy the festivities.
At the conclusion of the family freestyle relays, which are always a lot of fun, the swimmers enjoyed half and hour of games in the pool.
Once dried and dressed and as mums and dads set up the picnic blankets a special visitor arrived in the Mustang Express and handed out lolly bags to the children and adults. Then there were photos with Santa before he had to leave and head back to the North Pole.
Then it was time for everyone to enjoy their picnic dinners.
At about 7.00pm everyone entered the school hall to watch a movie, “Christopher Robin”. The children watched on the floor with blankets and pillows while most adults sat on chairs behind.
At intermission we all enjoyed an icecream cone and a soft drink before returning to the hall to watch the conclusion of the movie.
There were a few tears around the room as the movie drew to a close.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and what a great way to end 2018.
We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas with their families and we look forward to seeing them all again in 2019.
