Our Pool
The Peakhurst West Swimming Pool is a 25m indoor heated pool, located in the grounds of Peakhurst West Public School. The pool can be accessed via Ogilvy Street in Peakhurst and has no on site parking.
It was decided to build the pool and funds were raised by the local community and when the school agreed to have the pool on their grounds, the P&C stepped in to bring the pool to fruition. The pool was completed in 1961 and at the time consisted of a 20 yard outdoor pool and changing facilities.
In 1978, a government grant enabled the pool to be heated and enclosed; and in 1990, the pool was extended to the current 25m length.
The pool was operated by a co-operative made up of local community members, school P&C members and some pool hirers, on a lease arrangement with the school. This co-op ceased to operate and in late 2018 the running and maintenance of the pool was handed over to Bluefit. The pool is utilised by the local community on a private-hire basis and no public swimming is available.
