Swim Club Information
Peakhurst ASC meets on Saturday afternoons during the year. The pool opens at 2.45pm, registered swimmers enter into events via Swim Central. New members and unregistered swimmers wishing to swim need to get in contact with George Ross and email him your name, date of birth and the events you wish to enter at peakhurstascmeets@gmail.com Online entries must be in by 2.45pm on Saturday afternoon. Set up begins at 3.00pm and Racing commences at 3.30pm. Swimmers pay weekly race fees of $2.00 per race, plus 10c transaction fee. Listed below you will find step by step instructions on how to enter via Swim Central.
Each week we offer events in a variety of strokes and distances. We have members from the ages of 4 years up to over 50s.
Weekly club races are seeded according to personal best times and swimmers progress to longer distance events as they achieve upgrade times.
Races are swum in 15m, 25m and 50m distances each week. 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m events are available throughout the season as outlined in our Almanac. Copy of our Almanac can be found under Member Information, Almanac.
Swimmers are eligible to swim events which are 100m or longer once they have achieved the 100m upgrade time in that stroke.
eg: If a swimmer has upgraded to 100mtr Freestyle they can now swim in 100m, 200m, 400m or higher Freestyle events. This does not apply to the other strokes, the swimmer must then upgrade to 100mtrs in all other strokes before they can swim longer distances in the other strokes.

Set out below is the upgrade chart and some further information.
Members are graded according to their ability to swim various distances within the specified times. These times may be altered from time to time at the discretion of the Race Committee. Swimmers may only progress to the next distance as their swim times improve in accordance with the following table:
| 15 metres | 25 metres | 50 metres | 100 metres |
Freestyle | 20 seconds | 23 seconds | 40 seconds
Breaststroke | 26 seconds | 29 seconds | 52 seconds
Backstroke | 24 seconds | 27 seconds | 45 seconds
Butterfly | 22 seconds | 26 seconds | 42 seconds
Extra Mini | Mini | Junior | Senior
Medley | (2 x 15 metres) | (2 x 25 metres) | (3 x 25 metres) | (4 x 25 metres) |
50 seconds | 58 seconds | 80 seconds |
The upgrading times must be bettered, not equalled, before a swimmer can go up in distance, i.e. 15 metre freestyler must do LESS than 20 seconds. No swimmer may progress from 25 metres unless his/her stroke is correct.
No swimmer will be able to swim in 100 metre events unless qualified to do so, but if eligible he/she MUST swim 100 metres in those events which are marked (100*) in the almanac. At other times they may elect to swim EITHER 50 metres or 100 metres in that stroke. Only swimmers so qualified may swim in longer distance events. To enter a 200 metre medley event, swimmers must be qualified to swim the Senior Medley. On “Sprint Days”, the longest distance swum will be 50 metres.
200mtr Championship Swims
The 200m Championship events are open to any swimmer who has qualified to swim that distance and has swum at least one qualifying swim in the current or previous season. Swimmers entering the 200m Championship events must have met normal qualifying requirements for the Championships by the end of the season otherwise the points earned and any records created will be revoked.
The 200m Championship events will be seeded based on times swum in the current and previous season. The 200m Championship events will be run as an Open event with times counting toward age swims.

Points are to be awarded weekly on the following basis:
Points will be awarded on a maximum of three swims on any one day and these shall be a swimmer’s three highest point scoring swims on that day, including 200m Championship swims. A member attempting a record during normal club swimming shall earn points in accordance with Rule 9g.
Five (5) points will be awarded for completing an event with a distance exceeding 200 metres, unless disqualified.
Any swimmer representing the Club at an outside carnival, instead of the normal Club meet, will be entitled to twelve (12) points in all towards that day’s point score. A swimmer returning from such a meet and swimming at Club will be entitled to those twelve points OR the points earned at Club whichever is the greater. Attendance at the meet must be verified.
That the points awarded for each swim of the season (in each stroke and distance) for swimmers continuing from the preceding season be based upon their personal best time for the preceding season set outside of championship events until a better time is set. Swimmers not falling into this category are to swim time trials.
