With the individual; events out of the way it was time for the 25mtr Dash and McAlpine Relay events.
Lining up for the Men’s 25mtr Dash were:-
Adam, George, Jordan, Mitchell and Pearce.
After the splash subsided Adam had won the event in a time of 12.10secs with George in 2nd, Jordan in 3rd, Mitchell in 4th and Pearce in 5th.
Then it was the girls turn and on the blocks were:-
Isabella, Annika, Alanna and Kaitlin.
Congratulations to Isabella the women’s champion in a time of 14.29secs, with Annika in 2nd, Alanna in 3rd and Kaitlin in 4th.
Now the handicapped McAlpine Relay, where 4 teams of 13 swimmers go head to head for the McAlpine TrophyGirls
Girls Team A was captained by Kaitlin, Boys Team A was captained by Greg, Boys Team B was captained by Mitchell, and Mixed Team A was captained by Adam.
Each team is made up of all age groups where the younger swimmers swim 25mtrs and the older swimmers 50mtrs. What excitement there was, as all the swimmers lined up for the start of the event. Mitchell’s team swam in Lane 1 and went off first, then for what seemed like an eternity Kaitlin’s team in Lane 2 was finally in the water, closely followed by Adam’s team in Lane 3, then another long wait for Greg’s team in Lane 4 to enter the water.
Lane 3 came back to the blocks first closely followed by Lane 1. Lane 2 finally returned with Lane 4 in hot pursuit. Lane 3 is in the lead with Lane 1 in 2nd. After many laps and excited children, we get down to the last 4 swimmers. The captains are on the blocks ready to bring their team home.
Greg in Lane 4 enters the water first, followed by Mitchell in Lane 1, Adam in Lane 3 and Kaitlin in Lane 1. Winners of the relay are Boys
Team A in Lane 4. With Boys Team B in 2nd, Mixed Team A in 3rd and Girls Team A in 4th
Congratulations to Greg and Boys Team A winners of the 2021 McAlpine Relay.
