Entries are now open for Summer Championships, which will be held on 29 March and 05 April 2025.
The Blue line sheet is available here (correct to 22 March 2025)
Please note that entries for this will close at midday on 27 March 2025. The reason for an earlier closing time than for normal weekly swims, is that there is more time needed to prepare the program for championships.
If there is any confusion over the championships or what events you should enter, please email or see George at the pool over the next few weeks.

Information regarding championships
– Entries are online, with entries for both days completed on the same “event” on Swim Central.
– You will need to pay for your races at the time of entering, cost is $1.50 per event plus transaction fee.
** Please note that Day 2 is referred to as “Day 8” on Swim Central (but still as “Session 2”) – this is because of the week gap between Day 1 and Day 2 **
Week 1 (29 March 2025) – Swims are: Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle
Week 2 (05 April 2025) – Swims are:Medley, Backstroke, 25m Dash, McAlpine Relay
Qualification
To be eligible to compete at championships, swimmers must:
– be a registered (first claim) member of the club
– have completed at least 8 freestyle swims throughout the season (this qualifies swimmers for freestyle)
– have completed 4 swims for each of form strokes and medley to enter those events
– A Blue Line sheet is available at the Recording Table (and at the top of this page) so you can see what swims are required to qualify for Championships. If there is a blue line next to your child’s name that means that they have qualified for all swims in their age group. If there is a number next to their name that means they still have to swim that number of swims to qualify for Championships.
– Anyone not meeting the above requirements (eg 2nd claim swimmers; or not having completed enough swims) is still able to enter championships, but they will be classed as an “Exhibition Swimmer” (meaning not eligible for prizes).
Events – Age Group, 11 and Under and Open
– Races at championships are swum in age groups (rather than at weekly club when they are seeded by time).
– Age groups are determined by the swimmers age as at 15 March 2025.
- The reason for this is so that age groups are consistent year after year as championships dates change due to Easter, School Holidays, etc.
– Distance swum is dictated by age, rather than by time – see below for specific distances. If you have not met the upgrade time for the distance swum in your age at championships, you can still swim that event (that is, upgrade times do not apply for age group events at championships)
– Open events and the 11&U Freestyle are restricted to swimmers who are qualified for 100m
– If anyone is unsure what they should enter, please ask.
25m Dash
– This is an invitational event for the fastest 5 male and female swimmers from the qualifying swims held throughout the season.
-This event is one of the highlight events of Summer Championships, and is normally an exciting finish
McAlpine Relay
– All swimmers are eligible to be chosen to swim in the exciting McAlpine Handicapped Relay.
– This relay is held on Day 2 of Summer Championships, which involves 4 (or 5) teams of up to 13 swimmers
– This relay is a handicapped event and the fastest swimmers from the individual Freestyle events (on Day 1 of championships) are chosen to swim in this relay (however the aim is to have all swimmers participate if possible, including 15m swimmers)
– The seeding and handicapping for this relay event is a lengthy and complex process
– If you are not coming on Day 2 of Championships or are leaving early and do not wish to swim in the relay please advise George ASAP so this is taken into account when assigning teams
